So today was much of the same. I didn’t get a chance to ride, as the two I’ve been riding had lessons, but it gave me a chance to really watch him and get some video. He was distracted today, and it didn’t help that the horse next door decided to run around like an idiot while he was being ridden. A couple snorts and dragon moves, and he settled a bit, but he still was a bit all over the place today. I did get video of him, so Ill upload it later, even if it is of him on a not so hot day. We decided to call it a day after a couple of jumps, as it didn’t seem like anything was going to help him today. Oh well, there’s always tomorrow.
But we did have headway with our trailer loading practice. We found out that we were going to be using the two horse, instead of the big trailer, so we knew we needed practice, as that was the trailer he had trouble with when she went to pick him up. So we started to practice, and he just does his usual sniff sniff and steps slowly up on. My coaxing was not helpful, he didn’t care that I was tapping him with the whip, so the trainer gave him a tap herself and he loaded up right away. His biggest problem isn’t getting in, its staying on long enough for the butt bar to be closed. So we used some feed to keep him standing on the trailer, and after that there were no problems 🙂 he just loves his feed! Good to know, so I can use it as leverage again….
