An Update For Those Of You Still With Us

Hello everyone! I know I know, typical Shelley. A couple months with no updates… At least I’m relatively consistent in my lack of posts.

Since I last posted a lot has happened. Obviously. It has been several months.

Libby’s been doing super. We are at about 98% with our changes, the 2% being a stride late behind (which we’re working hard to correct). She’s jumping so well, really jumping through her back, and as my trainer says, “she’s jumping like a true show hunter!” So that’s super exciting since trainer E is an R judge and doesn’t compliment often. So that’s good!

I’m slowly getting my strength back after being off for about a month. I hurt my ankle back in November and after months of it bothering me, I finally got it checked out.  Found out I damaged the tendon and it’s slowly starting to separate from the bone 😫 So a month in a cast and walking boot was in order. Thankfully my trainer came out several times a week to help keep Libby in shape. Which I’m so glad she did, because her rides really helped get Libby to where she is today.

Since I last posted I did sell my saddle, holy crap crazy saddle buyers, and ordered my new one. Received the new saddle last week and it was the wrong tree size. Obviously I was super upset, still am, and am working with CWD to get the new saddle to me quickly. I’ll be without a saddle for 16 weeks when all is said and done 😪 Thankfully my friend that no longer rides has given me full use of her saddle, which fits Libby good enough to hold me over until the correct saddle comes. To say this has been a headache is an understatement.

Beautiful but wrong. Oscar photobombing

On the plus side of everything, I’ve scheduled three horse shows for us if time and money allow. The first is a one day C rated show on Father’s Day on June 19th. The other two are schooling shows that I’ll do if the first show doesn’t go well, or as well as I’m hoping. I’m really trying to not do any rated stuff without her changes being there.  Just doesn’t make sense to me to spend that kind of money without them being solid.

I’ve also been casually looking into Brenderup trailers.  We sold my Chevy in April and I got a Jeep Grand Cherokee, so I’ve been looking into the european style trailers that would be safe hauled behind a mid-size SUV like the Jeep.  But of course the ones I’ve found are either too expensive, too old and crusty, or they aren’t exactly what I’m looking for.  If anything its given me something to do with my time.  Because you know after riding, work, school, whatever is left of my social life, trying to learn a language on my own, and planning the future I have so much time!!!  Typical horse person, if it isn’t shopping for horses, its something else…

If you’ve stayed with me this long, through out all my dry writing spells, thank you!!! I really hope to get back into the groove of writing more and staying more on top of things.  Until next time 🙂

Best of luck with the show(s) & trailer shopping. I don't know what your budget is like but Hunter trailers are all the rage in the UK & Irl. On the continent I see a lot more diversity, I can't think of the names off the top of my head but if you want to to write down all the diff ones at my yard ill happily stalk them and check them out for you.
